I have always been interested in the medical field, but was not quite sure what to pursue. I decided that I would help animals and graduated in 2011 with an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. I have been a Registered Veterinary Technician since. Although I love working with animals, I feel that there is a void that still needs to be filled. I have been pursuing many different routes, including nursing, but they did not seem to fill the void. That is when I found becoming a doula seems to fit perfectly.

To be honest, I did not know what a doula was until I got pregnant with my first child. Once I found out how beneficial a doula could be, my husband and I chose to hire a birth doula, MJ Vargas (who is actually the founder of New Life Birth Services). It was absolutely amazing to have the extra support and love. It put me at ease knowing that someone was there to support not only me, but my husband as well. It was such a wonderful birthing experience that it sparked my interest in becoming a doula. Since then my passion has been to support families through this life changing experience.

At the end of May, I completed my birth doula training through DONA International and will be working towards becoming certified as a Birth Doula. I am very excited to be a part of New Life Birth Services as a Student Birth Doula. I also have a passion of learning more in postpartum care, massage and aromatherapy.
