Hello! My name is Taylor and I started birth work in 2022. I left my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico to go to school in the suburbs of Chicago. After graduating with a Bachelors in Cultural Anthropology, I knew I wanted to work with people, but had no specific inclinations. After working in Chicago as a home visitor, I was offered doula training through that agency. I fell in love with the empathetic work of doulas, walking alongside new parents through this major life transition. I firmly believe that every birthing person should have access to doula services in the capacity that serves them. It is critical for people to feel supported and safe when giving birth--with their friends, relatives and partners offering emotional and physical support. A doula can give families tangible tools for coping through labor and empower the birthing parent in choosing the options that are right for them. As a birth doula, I've had the honor of accompanying several families through their birth journeys, starting with prenatal visits to postpartum.

I later trained as a lactation specialist and supported families through the full spectrum of prenatal, birth, postpartum and lactation care. I am a Birth Doula through DONA International and am a Certified Lactation Specialist through LEC.  Motherhood/parenthood can be so isolating, and we all need a village to support us through it. Breast/chestfeeding can be much more difficult than we expect it to be, and we don't talk about this enough! So many parents get frustrated and think they're the only ones struggling with latching, ensuring milk supply, and so many variables when it comes to feeding. This topic is very moralized, and people feel guilt if they choose one way of feeding their child over another. It doesn't have to be like this! I am passionate about educating families and empowering them in their own journey of taking care of their new baby.

I got to experience all this firsthand with the birth of my daughter in 2025, navigating the fraught world of chronic illness and pregnancy, hospital birth, NICU stays, and feeding difficulties. Through this journey, I have learned so much about the need for empathy and holding space in birth and lactation work. I am looking forward to getting to know you during this unique and precious time of life!
